Filming and website development continue for the upcoming feature length documentary. Among interviewees in Melbourne and Canberra was NASOG Safe Birth Ambassador, Emma Mac Donald.

Building on the success of episode #1, webisode #2 (featured to your right) looks at solving the storage problems of inner-city dwellers Katie & Marty. Produced by marketing think-tank Little Green Frog, we are proud to have written, directed, shot and edited this series.

Apr '11: A new TVC campaign for Sir Walter Turf

From Sydney to Melbourne to Brisbane to Cairns, the new series of Sir Walter TVCs was shot on Canon's 5Dmkii over 5 days on a break-neck schedule. Writer / Director Jason van Genderen, Sir Walter front-man Nigel Ruck and DOP Gavin Banks risked life and limb to capture the new series of TVCs featuring many of Australia's 'BIG' icons. Watch for the new series from June '11.

Mar '11: CatholicCare TVCs go live

Community services agency CatholicCare signed-off on a series of four TVCs for a new branding campaign, as well as a 30min DVD educating potential carers on the realities of becoming a foster carer. A co-production between Little Green Frog and goodeyedeer, this project combines aspects of documentary and educational film to dispel myths about foster care and break down barriers between potential carers and parents.

Feb '11: TROPFEST 2011 Best Film Runner-up

The UNSPOKEN, (Wri / Dir, Jason van Genderen; DOP, Gavin Banks), was selected as best film runner-up at this years TROPFEST 2011. The film has since taken out the 'Youth Jury Prize' at the 2011 ASPEN INTERNATIONAL SHORTFEST, USA.

Jan '11: Makeovers with Gladiator Garageworks

Working closely with marketing think-tank, Little Green Frog, goodeyedeer have embarked on the first of a series of webisodes for storage solution experts GLADIATOR GARAGEWORKS.

Each episode tracks the transformation house and garage undergo when a well-ordered storage solution is installed. Stay tuned for the finished result...

Dec '10: Big Eye Deers: @ the movies with IMPACT

Friends and families of IMPACT Performance & Promotions were offered a rare treat on 11th Dec. Greater Union Glendale hosted the IMPACT 2010 CONCERT MOVIE: 90 minutes of video-clip like dance routines showcasing the creativity, vision and talent of the dance school and its students.

100 kids, 25 routines, 5 days of filming and months of editing resulted in some fantastic performances and a great night of entertainment for all. The concert DVD is now available, ready for christmas.

Dec '10: FASHAM Homes shoot, Vic

A wonderful week was spent in Victoria with director, Jason van Genderen, shooting material for FASHAM HOMES new series of webisodes (the first to be released Feb / Mar2011). Interviews with home owners and glamour shots of inspiring home design were shot around Melbourne and on the Mornington Peninsula using the Canon 5DMKii.

Another Treehouse Creative client, FASHAM came to Jason after the success of the GOSFORD REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT, a project also shot by goodeyedeer.

Nov '10: Melbourne documentary shoot

2 days were spent in Melbourne shooting a variety of interviews for the upcoming documentary FACE OF BIRTH. Interviewees included actress, Amanda Dogue and the maternity staff of Sunshine hospital.

Oct '10: NSW Fire Service educational shoots

Another project working with director, Owen Elliott from 76 Pictures, this series of films educates Fire fighters on new procedures for rural / urban fire management.

 

Sep '10: Some fun with POWDERFINGER

DOP Gavin Banks was contracted by TDC to shoot main camera at the opening night of POWDERFINGER'S Sunset Tour. An amazing concert, the camera feeds were mixed with animated graphics and projected on huge screens flanking the stage.

Aug '10: Artistic angle on Graffiti art with the 5Dmkii

goodeyedeer has begun shooting another project for PCYC NSW. Directed and produced by Owen Elliot of 76 Pictures, this series of short films looks at the real cost of Graffiti (both personal and financial) in a bid to encourage young offenders towards more positive creative outlets.

May - Jun '10: UK documentary shoot

Co-directors Gavin Banks and Kate Gorman travel to the UK to shoot a series of interviews with internationally renown childbirth experts, Sheila Kitzinger & Michel Odent, for the upcoming doco FACE OF BIRTH.

May '10: Canon 5DMKii acquired

In preparation for the upcoming FACE OF BIRTH UK shoot
goodeyedeer has acquired a new camera that is changing the face of independent filmmaking. This full-frame stills camera has a sensor bigger than the RED ONE and is able to shoot HD video with the shallow depth of field previously unique to 35mm film and film adaptors. DP Gavin Banks chose to use this camera for the UK trip due to its compact size and light weight: "The Canon 5DMkii is the perfect camera for this shoot. It allows us to maintain the look we have already established with the 35mm adaptors without weight and size restrictions of the larger-format professional camera. Our initial tests have produced stunning images". Gavin will be traveling through the Scottish highlands for two weeks of tests before heading to London to commence preliminary interviews.

Apr '10: Teaser success: 5000+ hits in 5 days

We have launched the Face of Birth website, a dedicated You Tube channel and facebook account. Teaser popularity continues after receiving over 5000 hits within the first week of going live.

Feb '10: Protecting endangered languages

Working with linguist, Dr Catriona Malau from the DoBeS programme, goodeyedeer has designed and post-produced a 2 disk set of DVD's designed to help preserve the cultural traditions and language of the Vurës, from the island of Vanuatu Lava (the Banks Islands) in Torba Province, Vanuatu.

Nov '09: Bathing Franky shoot begins

The feature film BATHING FRANKY, shot by goodeyedeer's Gavin Banks, starts shooting in and around the Hunter Valley, NSW. The images captured with the EX1 / LETUS 35mm adaptor and Zeiss lens combination have to be seen to be believed. Nikon's new D90 HD-DSLR was also used to film scenes where the bigger camera rig could not fit, with some surprising results.

ING launch their first online annual update, complete with a series of TV style webcasts created by goodeyedeer.

Jul '09: Homebirth doco production starts

July marked the beginning of filming for the documentary THE FACE OF BIRTH. Gavin Banks has teamed up with actor / director Kate Gorman and producer, Greg Hall to produce a film that looks at what is at stake for women and their families with homebirth about to become illegal.

Jun '09: Gavin Banks to DP feature

June marked the beginning of pre-production for the independent feature film BATHING FRANKY (starring Henri Szeps, Sean Goss, Bree Desborough, and Maria Venuti). The film will be shooting in and around the Hunter Valley, NSW, for 4 weeks from the 23rd Nov 2009.

Sep '08: Letus 35mm adaptor & Zeiss primes

Our new LETUS EXTREME 35mm lens adaptor kit for the Sony EX1 has arrived. The Letus 35mm adaptor provides the ability to shoot HD video with 35mm lenses giving a more filmic look. We have taken delivery of 3 x CARL ZEISS lenses - the ƒ2.0 28mm, ƒ1.4 50mm and ƒ1.4 85mm and a Zacuto follow focus and rigging system. To see the great images possible with this setup have a look at some screen grabs from the short LULLABY (shot early 2009).

Other purchases include a TV LOGIC multi format HD-SDI 17inch field monitor (LVM-171W) and a 3 metre crane - the ADVANTA-JIB lite.

The new gear has already proven very popular with clients and has been used to shoot Treehouse Creative's new SIR WALTER 7x15sec TVC series, as well as 76 Picture's, 8 part ROAD REALITIES series for PCYC NSW.
